Lie Lie Lie

Lie to Me has become one of my favorite tv serials. Well, it is basically like any typical detective story: murders, hidden scandal behind murders, etc (yeah, what else you can ask from a detective?). But the interesting point is how the main protagonist, Dr. Lightman, solve the riddle: he can tell if somebody is lying by seeing his/her face.

I believe everybody in this world has ever told lie for at least once in their lifetime, (and I assure you politicians can have done it couple times better than us). We tell lies, but at the same time we condemn to be lied. For those of you, who is tired of being manipulated, you should learn about microexpression to Dr. Lightman (or Dr. Paul Ekman to be precise).

Microexpressions are non-verbal communication that usually show up naturally when we are in risky situations. Unlike regular facial expressions, it is difficult for us to fake them. But it is almost as difficult as to recognize them, because they appear so fast, only 1/25 of a second. They express seven universal emotions: disgust, anger, fear,sadness, happiness, surprise, and contempt. Scientific research said that every human shows the same microexpressions while giving those emotions. Like how your eyebrows drown down when you feel angry, wrinkle in your forehead if you feel sad. They are universal signs that do not defined by  race, nationality, or culture. Dr. Paul Ekman study revealed that there are people in this world who can detect deception naturally, they call them "Truth Wizard" (or "natural" in Lie to Me).

Internship Day 1

First day of internship in Indosat M2 was going well. The mentors were kind. I was working in group of three, with Hamzah and Iqbal. The tasks were interesting and I liked to do them all. I made three new folders in my desktop for today's job, first was IM2, followed by WARCRAFT and PLANT_VS_ZOMBIE folder. Hahahaha.

Unrequited Shoes

I am going to have internship in like two weeks from now and I only have one pair of pantalons. So today, I went shopping for work outfit with my mom in this place. This place is.. almost like other big shopping centers (or we usually called it Trade Center) in Jakarta: crowded with people, overloaded goods on the back of the porters, etc. The sellers distinctively sell goods not in retail way, they act to sell goods to whole seller. Which means the price should be cheaper.

Happy Birthday, Chita Indah Hayati

Today is my birthday. Unlike my birthday night couple years ago, tonight I slept soundly, even birthday calls from my friend didn’t distract me. I considered giving my body more time to sleep was my first luxurious birthday gift for myself :P

Then, I spent the morning of my first day of being 21 washing my jeans. Yeah, my friend, washing jeans. But it was still much better than spending you first day of being twenty-something going to your friend’s funeral, right? June 1st last year, I started my 20 with mourning of the loss. Our friend, a very good young man, passed away in the age of 19.

Suatu malam, saya dan dua teman saya (Gista dan Eva) naik kereta ekonomi AC menuju Jakarta. Untungnya, kami menaiki gerbong yang lumayan sepi dan langsung mendapatkan tempat duduk di tengah-tengah deretan bangku.

The Selection

Karena tuntutan ekonomi dan hasrat BM (Banyak Mau), akhirnya saya ikutan jadi pengawas SIMAK-UI (Seleksi Masuk Universitas Indonesia). Kebetulan saya ditempatin di salah satu sekolah swasta di Bekasi, which is deket sama rumah, dan asiknya 'fee'-nya lebih oke :-P

Ngawasin orang ujian pretty much less troublesome dibandingin ngerjain ujian itu sendiri. Saya masih inget rasanya waktu SPMB dulu, deg-degan parah.. pingin nangis pas liat soal fisika.. bawa permen buat jaga-jaga kalau ngantuk (which were left uneaten).

And the best part on that glorious day was I was not late. When the test had already begun, two boys came in and one of them did 'salim' to me. I shrugged my shoulder. They had to be very jumpy, huh, mistaken this young lady with one of their teacher? Still, I wish all of you guys in Ruang 11 tremendous luck :-)
